Tracy Potter

With over 20 years’ experience in the field of powdered metallurgy Tracy can provide a unique perspective on PM.  Starting out in the laboratory of world renowned powdered metallurgy expert Dr. Randall German, at his Penn State University laboratory Tracy spent years performing very diverse R&D for government, military, and industrial clients in nearly every field of PM while acting as laboratory manager.  In addition to R&D activities, as laboratory manager Tracy was responsible for selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of several million dollars of the latest PM characterization, processing, and testing equipment.

After years of learning the ins and outs of PM on the R&D side Tracy’s next challenge was as co-founder of a successful PM component manufacturing company.  Tracy helped grow the company from zero employees in a run-down building to one with over 30 employees in a newly constructed facility.  The company was initially started producing parts using the more traditional press and sinter PM method then later transferring almost exclusively to the metal injection molding process. Tracy was involved in nearly every aspect of the company from facilities construction to engineering to sales and marketing.

Since stepping away from PM component manufacturing Tracy has focused most recently on helping other individuals and companies better understand and utilize the PM process.  Tracy has been able to assist clients in traditional PM fields like metal injection molding, and press and sinter, and has worked with companies in the field of additive manufacturing.  Additionally, Tracy provides services such as tool and equipment design for industries from pharmaceuticals to powder metals.

In his spare time Tracy enjoys camping with his family and participating in various motorsports and metal fabrication.
